Getting Here
After exiting the highway, follow signs for the city center and set your GPS destination to Via Jacopo da Diacceto, near the Santa Maria Novella train station. This is the permitted route for vehicles without a special city-center access permit.
Continue onto Via Alamanni, turn right onto Via Santa Caterina da Siena, and then turn right at the traffic light onto Via della Scala. Hotel Adler Cavalieri is located at number 40, on the right-hand side.
The hotel is located outside Florence’s restricted-traffic zone, known as the ZTL.
Florence’s Green Shield, or “Scudo Verde,” is an environmental traffic-control system that monitors access to the city limits 24 hours a day. It does not introduce a congestion charge, but enforces existing restrictions for certain older, higher-emission vehicles.
Restrictions currently apply to specific categories of older gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles:
- Euro 0 gasoline vehicles registered before 12/31/1992
- Euro 0 and Euro 1 diesel vehicles registered before 1996

Hotel Adler Cavalieri is just a short walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station.
Exit the station on the Via Alamanni side, walk down the steps, and cross the tram tracks. Turn left onto Via Alamanni, then take the first street on the right, Via Santa Caterina da Siena. At the traffic light, turn right onto Via della Scala. After approximately 50 feet (15 meters), you’ll find the hotel at number 40 on your right.
Florence Airport, Amerigo Vespucci, is approximately 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the hotel. You can reach us by taxi or take the T2 tram directly to the Santa Maria Novella area. From there, follow the walking directions listed under “By Train.”
